The Long Range Rifle: Precision, Science, and Mastery at Distance
Master the Art of Long-Range Precision
The Long Range Rifle course provides an in-depth introduction to the precise and highly technical discipline of long-range shooting. Designed for experienced shooters ready to move beyond traditional hunting or competition distances, this course bridges the gap between basic rifle skills and true long-range proficiency, combining science, technique, and disciplined execution.
Who This Course Is For
Enrollment is limited to
six students to ensure focused instruction and safety. Students must have completed
Intro to the Long Range Rifle or demonstrate equivalent proficiency to the instructor’s satisfaction. This small-group format allows for detailed coaching, personalized feedback, and measurable improvement over two intensive training days.
Two Days of Focused Training
This course is conducted over
two full days in
Durango, Colorado, with all classroom instruction held directly on the range for immediate application. Training schedule dates are reflected accurately on the Training Schedule page. Students should be prepared for full-day outdoor instruction in varying conditions.
Equipment, Optics, and Ballistics Foundations
Classroom instruction covers rifle and equipment maintenance, scope selection and setup, shooting at angled elevations, and “dummy-proofing” your system. Students will gain a working understanding of ballistic concepts, optics adjustment, and equipment configuration necessary for consistent long-range accuracy before live-fire application begins.
Zeroing, Wind, and DOPE Development
Day One focuses on chronographing your rifle and ammunition, confirming zero, and building reliable DOPE data at extended distances. Students will practice accuracy improvement, range estimation, wind reading, and fire the Known Distance Course at 200, 250, 300, 400 yards and beyond, reinforcing precision fundamentals.
Real-World Long-Range Application
Day Two advances into positional shooting—standing, kneeling, sitting, prone, and supported positions. Students will learn holding over and under, engage unknown-distance targets, and apply ballistic solutions dynamically. This day emphasizes adaptability, problem-solving, and confidence at extended ranges.
Learn from Proven Precision Professionals
Instruction is led by a veteran law enforcement sniper and firearms instructor with decades of experience, including SWAT sniper operations, range mastery, and regional sniper instruction. His background in precision rifles, wound ballistics, and tactical instruction ensures students receive expert-level guidance grounded in real-world application.
What to Bring and What You’ll Gain
Students must bring a center-fire rifle capable of long-range accuracy, optic, 200 rounds of ammunition, and support gear such as bipods or bags. Upon completion, students leave with refined long-range skills, deeper ballistic understanding, and renewed confidence. Enrollment is completed online or by mailing the $300 course fee.
