Level One Tactical Shotgun Overview
Level One Tactical Shotgun is designed to teach students the essential skills for shooting and manipulating both pump and semi-automatic shotguns. Through classroom and hands-on range time, you will learn vital skills including proper firearm handling, shooting from various positions, and firearm reloading techniques. This course is based on law enforcement training methods, ensuring you develop the skills needed for real-world situations.
Course Fee & Payment Details
The class fee for Level One Tactical Shotgun is $225, covering all range maintenance, class materials, and instructor time. Payment can be made online or by mailing a check to PO Box 3956, Durango, CO 81302. Refunds of 20% will be issued for cancellations made in advance. To ensure your place in the course, please make sure your payment is received by the Monday prior to the class.
Class Schedule & Location
Level One Tactical Shotgun is conducted at
Red Dawn Range, Durango, Colorado. The class duration is one full day, typically about 8 hours, and you’ll be learning in both classroom and range environments. Please bring lunch or snacks for the day, as the class will run through various drills and exercises designed to improve your shotgun handling skills.
What to Bring
To participate in the Level One Tactical Shotgun course, please bring:
- 200 rounds of birdshot ammunition
- 25 rounds of slug ammunition
- Two-point sling
- Belt pouches for magazines
- Eye protection and hearing protection (electronic is preferred)
- Ball cap or any other billed cap
- Weather-appropriate clothing,
knee/elbow pads (optional)

- Safe mindset development through mental programming
- Alternative shooting positions (standing, kneeling, prone)

Prerequisites & Eligibility
To participate in this course, students must have completed
basic firearms safety training. This class is suitable for anyone who wants to develop advanced shotgun skills in both combat and tactical settings. If you're 16 years or older, you're eligible to take the class. Contact us if you have any questions regarding eligibility.
