Level One Tactical Carbine Overview
Level One Tactical Carbine is designed for new and untrained carbine owners, as well as those looking to improve their existing skills. This course focuses on carbine/rifle fundamentals, with an emphasis on safety, movement, and accurate shooting from alternate positions. Whether you’re a beginner or intermediate shooter, this class will help you refine your skills to engage targets effectively in various environments.
Class Fee & Payment Details
The fee for the Level One Tactical Carbine course is
$250, which covers the cost of class prep, range materials, and instructor time. Payments can be made online or by sending a check to
Wolverine School at
PO Box 3956, Durango, CO 81302. For any cancellations made prior to the course, we offer a
20% refund.
Class Schedule & Location
Level One Tactical Carbine will be held at
Red Dawn Range in Durango, Colorado. The course is one full day, and students are encouraged to bring lunch or snacks. With a small class size of
six students, we ensure personalized attention and hands-on learning. Full details on the schedule are available on the training page.
Prerequisites & Requirements
To participate in this course, you must have a
good attitude and demonstrate safe firearm handling. Students of all skill levels are welcome, but the course will focus on providing safe, competent, and efficient carbine usage for beginners and intermediates. Prior experience is not required, but a willingness to learn is crucial.

What to Bring
Please bring the following for the course:
- AR15 variant rifle (or similar carbine)
- Optic and iron sights
- 200-300 rounds of ammo (no green tip or armor piercing)
- 3 or more magazines (equivalent to 30-round mags)
- Two-point tactical sling
- Ear and eye protection
- Comfortable clothing for strenuous activity
Additionally,
knee pads, gloves, and a
water storage device are optional but recommended.
