The CCW Using the Holster Course is designed to take the basic CCW Permit holder to the next level of proficiency, focusing on safety and handgun presentation techniques. Learn the Right Angle Draw Stroke and the Hi Ready position to ensure safe and efficient use of your firearm in self-defense situations. This course also qualifies for CCW renewals in Colorado.
Class Details
Held at Red Dawn Range in Durango, CO, this 4-hour course is perfect for those who have completed Basic Defensive Pistol/CCW training. The class covers advanced draw techniques and the use of the holster, with an emphasis on safety and effective target engagement. Students will receive a certificate of completion, qualifying them for Colorado’s CCW renewal.
Payment Info
The class fee is $125 for class prep, range maintenance, and instruction. Payment is due by the Monday before the class, with a refund of 20% for cancellations. We understand that schedules can change, so we’re flexible with late registrations if arranged in advance.
Class Requirements
Students must bring their own firearm, carry holster (strong-side hip only), 100 rounds of ammunition (bring more for practice), eye and hearing protection, and proper clothing for the weather. The class will last about 4 hours, with additional time available for those wanting more practice.
Schedule & Duration
The class will be held at Red Dawn Range, with exact start times depending on the season (9:00 AM or 10:00 AM). Expect a 4-hour session, with the option to extend for more practice. Ensure you’re prepared by checking the schedule and arriving on time.
What You’ll Learn
You’ll master the Right Angle Draw Stroke and become proficient in drawing and presenting your firearm under stress. The class also introduces drills that will enhance your accuracy, focus, and speed in self-defense situations, helping you prepare for more advanced CCW training.
Gear Details
Bring your handgun, holster, and 100 rounds of ammunition to the class. Holsters must be strong-side hip for safety. Additional carry systems can be discussed during the class. Remember to dress for the weather and bring snacks or lunch as needed.
